Weatherization Plus Health: A National Effort for Local Healthy Homes Collaboration

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Weatherization Plus Health initiative is a national effort to enable local providers of low-income energy, health, and safety services to work together efficiently and effectively. Weatherization Plus Health will help communities connect resources so that residents can access comprehensive solutions to their housing problems. To meet these goals, Weatherization Plus Health is providing a series of resources that will empower the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) and Healthy Homes providers to establish strong partnerships, coordinate service delivery, and implement new strategies to benefit their communities.

Resources include:

• Reports for each U.S. State and Territory detailing WAP and Healthy Homes infrastructure as it currently exists, highlighting successful partnerships, and identifying pathways to future collaboration among state and local agencies;
• Regional conferences to bring together Healthy Homes and WAP providers, identify gaps between existing partnerships, and encourage new partnerships.
• Training and technical assistance for providers of Healthy Homes and WAP services upon request through targeted trainings and webinars;
• Best practices for creating referral systems between Healthy Homes programs and WAP agencies;
• Regular Weatherization Plus Health updates containing success stories and tips for connecting WAP and Healthy Homes;
