NASCSP General Counsel Brad Penney was invited to participate at the World Energy Engineering Congress (WEEC) held at the Navy Pier in Chicago, Illinois from October 11th through 14th. The Conference was sponsored by the Association of Energy Engineers and attended by more than 900 people.
Moderating a panel discussion on energy policy, which included representatives from major energy service companies, his presentation addressed weatherization and energy policy – specifically what to expect in terms of energy policy from the 112th Congress heading into a Presidential election year. He also discussed the pressing issues confronting low income Americans – given that they spend 15% of their income on energy needs compared to the 3 to 4% spent by the middle and upper income – and the relationship of those problems to energy concerns.
The WEEC is well-recognized as the most important energy conference of national and international scope for companies and energy professionals in all areas of the energy field. It is the one comprehensive forum where participants can fully assess the “big picture” on energy policy and see exactly how the economic and market forces – new technologies, regulatory developments and industry trends – all merge to shape decisions affecting our energy future. This was the first time the WEEC Conference highlighted the weatherization program in one of its panel discussions.
