Weatherization Day

October 28th | 9:00-9:45am CST | Hilton Minneapolis Hotel

Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm participated in the Weatherization Day Celebration with recorded remarks:

Representatives Paul Tonko (D-NY) and Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) joined in the festivities with remarks.

Senators Jack Reed (D-RI), Susan Collins (R-ME) and Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) also sent remarks and joined in the celebration virtually.

The National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) produced this great video with comments from AnnaMaria Garcia, Director of the Weatherization and Intergovernmental Programs Office in the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) at the Department of Energy (DOE) as well as video testimonials from people who work within Weatherization Assistance Program.

Each year, communities across the country mark October 30th as National Weatherization Day. Weatherization Day is an opportunity to highlight the impact of the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) which saves energy, improves the health and safety of homes, and supports jobs and small businesses. State and Local WAP agencies plan events and actions each year to showcase Weatherization Day such as community celebrations or WAP site visits with members of Congress. Many WAP programs are featured in the press and many governor’s officially issue a Weatherization Day Proclamation.

NASCSP maintains several planning tool kits to assist with your Weatherization Day efforts, from planning site demonstrations to assisting with communications and social media. You can find our planning guides and toolkits here.
