FY '19 Appropriations Update

Washington, D.C.- May 29, 2018
The FY 2019 appropriations process is moving along. There have been strong numbers released for WAP and we will know CSBG numbers later this summer.
WAP
-Both the House and Senate Appropriations Committees have marked up their Energy and Water Bills. The House and Senate have recommended $251 million for the WAP ($248 million formula, $3 million for DOE Headquarters TTA).  This is level funding with the numbers in the 2018 Omnibus and is a strong signal of robust, bipartisan support for the program across both chambers of Congress. -Additionally, Senator Collins (R-ME) and Senator Reed (D-RI) led a letterl ast week to U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Rick Perry urging him to uphold his commitment to release 2018 funding for WAP and the State Energy Program (SEP) by no later than July 1, 2018. Senators Shaheen (D-NH), Coons (D-DE), and Cantwell (D-WA) all signed onto the letter.
CSBG
-Building on House testimony submitted in April, NASCSP submitted testimony in support of FY 2019 CSBG appropriations to the Senate this week. Read it here.
-House and Senate committee markups of the Labor-HHS bill will most likely occur in June. The Labor-HHS bill will contain CSBG and LIHEAP information.
NASCSP will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
