2020 Winter Pre-Conference Offerings (February 24 – 25)
Legal Considerations for State Administrators Training
Designed for experienced WAP and CSBG Managers. This pre-conference offering will provide an overview and insight into legal topics affecting state managers of WAP and CSBG programs. Topics will include an overview of federal grant law, state nonprofit law, non-profit governance, board governance, state appeal processes and policies, working with state general counsel, and lobbying and advocacy activities.
The CSBG Orientation is designed for new CSBG State Administrators, or those looking for a refresher on the building blocks for managing CSBG. Topics to be covered in orientation include the CSBG Act, Performance Management Framework, introduction to the Office of Community Services, the role of the state office, required actions for state offices, monitoring basics and requirements, ROMA Next Generation, Annual Report 101, and much, much more!
The WAP Orientation is designed for new WAP State Managers and staff, or any staff in the WAP network looking for a refresher on managing the Weatherization Assistance Program. The WAP Orientation will include an overview of the legislation, regulations and DOE policy guidance relevant to WAP, technical management areas such as energy audits, field guides and monitoring, T&TA requirements and planning, and more. Attendees will receive training from DOE staff and national WAP experts, and have an opportunity to network with their WAP peers.
2020 Winter Core Training Conference (February 26 – 28)
The 2020 Winter Training Conference offers valuable opportunities for professionals from around the country to come together and discuss strategies for meeting new challenges in improved performance, innovation, and accountability in the fight to change the face of poverty across the nation. The conference is separated into the following two tracks:
The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) track focuses on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) CSBG initiatives. It also highlights best practices related to anti-poverty efforts, performance management, and performance measurement. Sessions include updates on ROMA Next Generation, Organizational Standards, State and Federal Accountability Measures, and a discussion with the Office of Community Services Administration for Children and Families about their vision for the future of the Network.
The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) track focuses on the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) WAP initiatives and grantee management issues. Sessions include updates and discussion of recent DOE WAP policy, program notices, guidance, and future direction of the program.
