Researcher II/III – Weatherization Analyst – Golden, CO

Job Description
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), located at the foothills of the Rocky Mountain in Golden, Colorado is the nation’s primary laboratory for research and development of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.
NREL is seeking a researcher focused on weatherization and residential energy efficiency research and analysis. NREL’s Weatherization Team provides technical and programmatic assistance to the Department of Energy (DOE) Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP). This support includes managing the development and maintenance of technical specifications and tools, developing innovative approaches to strengthen workforce skills and qualifications, collaborating with training providers, and fostering continuous improvement throughout the WAP.
This researcher will work with other analysts and senior staff to develop and implement analytical projects that assess WAP and residential energy efficiency policies, programs, and/or industry trends in order to inform decision makers, program implementers, and researchers. The researcher will also be involved in the development of technical or programmatic resources that assist stakeholders with WAP implementation.
The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate an understanding of building science principles, technologies, and applications, as well as a general knowledge of the energy efficiency industry and the Weatherization Assistance Program. The researcher will work collaboratively with weatherization stakeholders, industry partners and other entities. The successful candidate will have excellent writing, interpersonal and communication skills. A high degree of professionalism, curiosity, and ethical conduct is required. Outstanding communication is a must – written, verbal, and via presentations.
