The Deputy Director oversees programs that are developed in partnership with state weatherization agencies and their local provider networks. Under WAP, states are responsible for making decisions and implementing programs. WAP reduces energy costs and burdens for low-income households while improving their health and safety. WAP has provided weatherization services to more than 7 million low-income households over the past 46 years.
Key Programs under WAP
- WAP annual funds, allocated to 50 states, District of Columbia and 5 U.S. Territories to perform weatherization retrofits to dwellings of low-income households.
- WAP BIL funds to greatly increase the scope of weatherization retrofits that can be provided across the U.S
- Enhancement & Innovation (E&I) grants, awarded competitively to facilitate and test out innovative approaches and technologies in WAP.
- Sustainable Energy Resources for Consumers (SERC) grants, awarded competitively to enable deeper retrofits that include newer clean energy technologies.
