2019 Winter Pre-Conference Events (February 11-12)
- NASCSP Orientation (February 11-12) When it comes to trainings, many people are often turned off by the word “orientation,” feeling that it is irrelevant to someone who has spent a good number of years working in the field. While the 2019 Orientation for State CSBG and WAP Directors and Staff certainly speaks to those new to the program, it also offers a plethora of useful tools, updates and information for anyone who administers the CSBG or WAP. In an ever evolving world of rules and regulations, why not go the extra mile to make sure you are in compliance and on top of your game?
- State Manager’s Training (February 12) NASCSP will again offer its State Manager’s Training. The State Manager’s Training, held in conjunction with the Orientation, is specifically designed for CSBG and WAP State managers looking to increase their knowledge and skills in order to help their agency become more productive and effective. This one-day training will provide an overview of a wide range of topics including training and technical assistance, monitoring, best practices, peer to peer application, policy and procedure adherence, annual report updates, and even provide a platform for networking and mentorship development.
- Organizational Sustainability and OMB Uniform Guidance – Did You Know? (February 11) NASCSP is pleased to offer a special one-day course presented through the seasoned eye of a Chief Financial Officer with over 30 years experience in non-profit financial management. The course is broken into to two topics: 1) Organizational Sustainability that examines 20 best practices of planning and aligning organizational operations to strengthen the ability of your organization to deliver results effectively and efficiently in this challenging era of limited financial resources and heightened expectations for delivery; and 2) OMB Uniform Guidance – Did You Know? that takes a deep dive into important issues in the guidance beyond just the language and offers the opportunity to look beyond the requirements of the guidance and find real world applications afforded to you in the management and oversight of your grant activities.
2019 Winter Core Conference (February 13-15)
The 2019 Annual Training Conference offers valuable opportunities for professionals from around the country to come together and discuss strategies for meeting new challenges in improved performance, innovation, and accountability in the fight to change the face of poverty across the nation. The conference is separated into the following two tracks:
The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) track focuses on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) CSBG initiatives. It also highlights best practices related to anti-poverty efforts, performance management, and performance measurement. Sessions include updates on the Annual Report, TTA Plans, State Plans, and a discussion with the Office of Community Services Administration for Children and Families about their vision for the future of the Network.
The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) track focuses on the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) WAP initiatives and grantee management issues. Sessions include updates and discussion of recent DOE WAP policy, program notices, guidance, and future direction of the program.
Preliminary agendas for all conference offerings coming soon!
